Christ Church Cathedral has a long and proud history of performing new music and offering finance to commission a new work is a great way to make a lasting contribution to the music life of the Cathedral and the wider church.  

The Cathedral’s repertoire includes many works by past and present Directors of Music – Keith Noake, Michael Dudman, Philip Mathias, Peter Guy and David Banney – as well as other fine contemporary Australian and international composers – Michael Leighton Jones, David Drury, Robert Boughen, Sam Crichton, Anna Thorvalsdottir, Ola Gjeilo, Elizabeth Coxhead and Marton Horváth.  

We look forward to commissioning new works in the years ahead, continuing the living tradition of Anglican Church Music with compositions from new voices.  Commissioning a new work is an exciting project, producing a result that will benefit not just our Cathedral, but many choirs around the country and beyond.
